Asbestos has many desirable properties such as sound absorption and resistance to fire, heat, and electricity. However, inhalation of asbestos fibres can cause serious and fatal illnesses such as lung cancer. This has led to the use of asbestos being completely banned.
We offer certification on Asbestos Awareness from the following awarding body: UKATA.
The aim of this course is to provide delegates with a minimum level of awareness of asbestos and how to avoid the risks relating to it. This course does not qualify delegates to remove asbestos. This course includes a theory element, with a test being conducted at the end.
The duration of the course depends on the experience level of the delegates attending. Typically, these are:
- ½ Day – Novice course
- ½ Day – Refresher Course (to renew current UKATA certificate).
A maximum of 12 delegates can attend this course.
Upon successful completion of the tests, delegates will be registered with UKATA (UK Asbestos Training Association) and issued with a UKATA Certificate, valid for 1 year. To maintain their certificate and registration with UKATA, delegates are required to complete a ½ Day Refresher Course every year.
Delegates who will be working with asbestos materials should attend the UKATA Working with Asbestos Course for Non-Licensable or Licensable works. For more information on these courses please contact us.
This course can take place at our training centre in Parkhead, Glasgow, our training centre in Bo’ness, West Lothian or at a location of your choice, subject to onsite requirements.
