Crane Supervisor

A Crane Supervisor is responsible for supervising lifting operations and following the lift plan prepared by the Appointed Person.  They work as part of a team to ensure lifting operations comply with the law and secure the health and safety of employees and of all those affected by the operations.

We offer certification for the Crane Supervisor from the following awarding bodies: CPCS, NPORS.

We accept SDS Individual Training Account (ITA) funding for this course.

CPCS Crane/Lifting Operations Supervisor (A62)

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely work as a Crane/Lifting Operations Supervisor.  This course includes theory and practical elements, with tests being conducted on each.

Duration

The duration of the course depends on the experience level of the delegates attending.  Typically, these are:

  • 4 Day – Novice Course (includes CPCS Theory and Practical Tests)
  • 2 – 4 Days –
    • 1 Day CPCS Theory Test preparation (recommended for all delegates)
    • 1-2 Days practical training (depending on experience level)
    • 1-2 Day CPCS Theory and Practical Tests (testing may be conducted over 2 days, depending on delegate numbers)
  • 1 Day – CPCS Theory and Practical Testing only (no training given, experienced Crane Supervisors only).

Attendee Numbers

A maximum of 6 delegates can attend this course.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the CPCS tests, delegates will be issued with a CPCS Trained Operator Card (red), valid for 2 years (non-renewable).  Delegates are required to complete a Vocational Qualification (VQ) and upgrade to a CPCS Competent Operator Card (blue).  This card is then renewed every 5 years.  Please contact us for more information.

Location

CPCS testing must be conducted at our centre in Bo’ness, West Lothian.

NPORS Crane/Lift Supervisor (N405)

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely work as a Crane/Lift Supervisor.  This course includes theory and practical elements, with tests being conducted on each.

Duration

The duration of the course depends on the experience level of the delegates attending.  Typically, these are:

  • 3 Day – Novice Course
  • 1 Day – Experienced Worker Course (Experienced Worker Tests are not an option for this category)
  • 1 Day – Refresher Course (to renew a Traditional NPORS Operator Card).

Attendee Numbers

A maximum of 6 delegates can attend this course.

Certification

NPORS Operator Card (Traditional) – Valid for 3 years.  To maintain their card and registration with NPORS, operators are advised to complete a 1 Day NPORS Refresher Course every 3 years.

NPORS CSCS Operator Card (Construction Industry) – Valid for 2 years (non-renewable).  Operators are required to complete a Vocational Qualification (VQ) and upgrade to an NPORS Competent Operator Card.  This card is then renewed every 5 years.  Please contact us for more information.

Location

This course can take place at our training centre in Bo’ness, West Lothian or at a location of your choice, using your crane, subject to onsite requirements
